Teledentistry has become a fundamental tool in our oral care for people with disabilities. While COVID-19 has accelerated its adoption, teledentistry will remain integral. In this webinar, Dr. Pani discusses the potentials and limitations of teledentistry in the context of special care dentistry on the basis of his extensive experience and published research in this field.

Dr. Sharat Pani is an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Dentistry at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. He has over 50 peer reviewed publications in the field of clinical pediatric dentistry. His research interests center around the biopsychosocial model of disease and seek to combine the fields of epidemiology, behaviour sciences and clinical pediatric dentistry.

He is a member of the advisory council to the chief dental officer of Canada and is part of a team seeking to establish the epidemiological extent of oral disease across Canada. Dr. Pani is a reviewer for the Journal of Dental Education, the International Journal of Paediatric Dentistry, Special Care in Dentistry among several others. He is a member of the executive committee of the International Association of Disability and Oral Health and has authored several papers on the oral health of individuals with special health care needs.
