Bio Dr Harriet Byrne

B.Dent.Sc (hons), MFDS RCSI, DipPCD RCSI, PgDip (ClinEd) UCC, MOS RCSEd

Harriet graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science from Trinity College Dublin in 2017. She was awarded the Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, and Primary Care Diploma from the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin alongside a diploma in Higher Education from University College, Cork. Harriet held house officer positions in the Dublin Dental University Hospital and in the Oral Surgery Department in the Cork University Dental School and Hospital. She worked in the Oral and Maxillofacial Unit in Merthyr Tydfil, Cardiff and progressed to the Oral and Maxillofacial Department in St. James Hospital and Children’s Health Ireland, Crumlin.

Harriet was awarded her Membership in Oral Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in 2023 and completed her Clinical Doctorate in Oral Surgery from University College, Cork with first class honours in 2024. Her thesis was defended with distinction under the title “An Assessment of the Oral Health Status and Dental Care Needs of Oncology Patients Receiving Bone Modifying Agents”. Harriet currently holds a part-time specialist academic position in the Cork University Dental School and Hospital alongside private oral surgery practice in Cork.
