Caring for challenging and rewarding groups of patients means that we perform repetitive or straining tasks and occasionally find ourselves contorted in awkward postures. These have a huge consequence on our muscles and joints resulting in musculoskeletal disorders, repetitive strain injuries and ultimately a short career.

Join us on the evening of Thursday 18th November with Clare Kelly to identify stressors in your practice and learn the most effective techniques to counteract their consequences. this course is not only relevant to dental hygienists, nurses and dentists but also to carers for those with physical or intellectual disabilities.

Clare is a Senior Physiotherapist who worked for 10 years with the HSE, predominantly in neurological and musculoskeletal rehabilitation and has completed advanced training in vestibular rehabilitation. She completed a scholarship in Cancer Rehabilitation with PINC & STEEL and is Regional Representative for the Republic of Ireland. She is the owner of Pura Vida Physio and teaches mixed level Pilates and Yoga classes and the Next Steps Group exercise programme for Cancer Survivors online. She provides private one to one physiotherapy consultations for adults online and at clinic in Limerick. She is also a qualified Vinyasa and Yin Yoga Instructor and leads wellness retreats for health professionals.

Learning Objectives:
– Ergonomics of seated/standing position
– Advice on maintaining healthy joints and the rest practical
– Go through stretches that you can complete during your work day to counteract certain dominant postures
